Firebrick, IFB & Mortars

Often viewed as the traditional form of refractory insulating materials, high temperature brick has evolved greatly over the years. Today, ThermalMax is proud to carry the market leading brands of Firebrick, Insulating Firebrick (IFB), and various mortar products.

Firebricks are made from high-purity refractory clays with graduated additions of alumina for the higher temperature products and have carefully graded organic fillers which burn out during manufacturing to give a uniform and controlled pore structure.

Insulating Firebricks (IFB) possess very low levels of iron and other impurities and each brick is ground to precise dimensions. IFB’s greatly assist in keeping operating costs down by allowing for thinner furnace linings than traditional brick due to the better insulating properties of IFB. IFB are also available in custom shapes upon request.
